Friends:
Restoring historic buildings and adapting them for modern
use is painstaking work. The properties upon which
Renaissance and Riverboat now stand were first acquired by
Daniel Smith Harris in 1839. The lots changed hands many
times until the Beltram and Weber Buildings were constructed
in the 1850's. Over the years they've been held by many
parties and served a variety of uses. When we purchased
them, both were in disrepair.
We decided to restore them and to turn them into
accommodations that Galena could be proud of. Our goal is to
provide 'a home away from home' for our visitors. We sought
to combine three elements; comfort, elegance and a sense of
history.
You'll experience that "home away from home" feeling in
comfortable elegance.
Your Hosts,
Terry and Victoria Cole
We also have a Large Hot Tub
for the enjoyment of all our guests.

Our Standard Rooms are decorated in a country motif,
featuring area antiques. All have private baths, central
air, phones and color television. The Standard Rooms share a
kitchen. The Superior Room has it's own private kitchen.
The Raphael Suite is done in an angel theme and features a
double whirlpool for two with running angel fountain on the
side. There is a fireplace in the bedroom, central air,
phone, color television and a kitchenette.
Celebrate with us the grandeur of the mighty steamboats that
once served the Port of Galena. Named after actual
riverboats that plied the mighty Mississippi, each suite is
unique, but they share the same refinements. Fireplaces warm
you and stained glass, antique wood and polished brass
caress you. Private baths feature a whirlpool for two and a
separate shower.
The Safari is done in an animal theme. It features, a double
whirlpool for two guarded by two three foot panthers. It has
a double see through fireplace, private bath w/ tub shower,
phone, color TV, kitchenette and large living room.
